Samsung Electronics and Mistral AI have formed a strategic partnership focused on bringing customized, on-premises artificial intelligence into Samsung’s semiconductor operations. The companies announced the agreement during a South Korea-France state summit in Paris. Samsung plans to integrate Mistral services, including the Mistral Large model, into engineering and manufacturing workflows spanning memory, logic and foundry work.

The on-premises approach matters in semiconductor development, where design files, process data and factory knowledge are unusually sensitive. Samsung says the collaboration is intended to improve how chips are designed and manufactured, but it did not announce a completed deployment, performance results or a production schedule.

Samsung also led Mistral AI’s Series D financing and secured a strategic equity stake, tying the software collaboration to a longer-term financial relationship. The announcement adds another link between foundation-model developers and the companies that manufacture the hardware supporting AI systems.
