Nintendo has set June 5 as the launch date for Switch 2. The new system retains the hybrid idea of a console that works both in the hand and at the television, while adding a larger display and revised Joy-Con controllers.

Communication is a notable part of the update. GameChat is intended to make talking and sharing play easier, with a dedicated controller button providing access. That places the social experience beside the traditional questions of graphics, controls and which games will be available.

For existing Switch owners, the purchase decision will involve their current game library as well as new releases. Compatibility details and the differences between editions deserve close reading. Nintendo is asking a successful format to carry another generation, so the quality of the transition matters alongside the novelty.
